Robert,
DO the easy tests first. Hook a voltmeter on the battery and run it up
through the rpms. How much is being put into the battery? Old battery? Old =
1 year or more or sat through the winter with no battry tender.
If the voltage doesn't rise above 12.XX even with a new battery, the votage
reg might be bad. Or the generator.
This is based upon experience with BMW alternator set ups. SOme guzzi
variations may apply.

Also, Mark, thanks for helping me last week. I called you from Rochester, NY about my 69 Ambo not firing on the starboard plug. You suggested installing #45 jets in the carbs. I took the carbs to the dealer and he gave me #45s for both carbs. The bike now runs on both cylinders!! I took it for a 35 mi run this weekend and it ran fine!!! Thanks to you! When I got the bike home I shut her off and then tried to restart it only to find out that the battery was not charged. This was a problem when I first bought the bike and now that I have had it out long enough to ride around it has come to my attention again. Do you think the generator needs new brushes? Do you think it's a regulator poblem? Again, thanks for your help.
