2017 December 16: Assembly (5.00 hours)

Updated:

  • Test fit the oil line. I need to order new banjo bolts.
  • I fit the carbs to the intake manifolds.
  • I fit the center stand spring. That was difficult. I ended up putting washers in-between each coil (on either side) to stretch it. Even that wasn't quite enough. I finally removed the pivot bolt on the spring side, fit the spring, and then manuevered the pivot bolt back in place.
  • I assembled the enricher and fit it to the handlebar perch. I used a dab of silicone to keep the 3 mm × 11 mm dowel pin in place. This pin prevents the enricher from rotating when in use. The completed assembly certainly looks pretty.
  • I fit passenger grab bars.
  • After speaking with Charlie Mullendore about my shift linkage, I've decided to use a 19 mm long stainless steel spacer on the left side along with a 5 mm long stainless steel spacer on the right side. Both spacers are made for 6 mm bolts and are 13 mm in diameter. This larger diameter should help with the side-pressures. I will use a hardened steel bolt to secure this assembly.
  • I went through my stash of cables and found new cables for the throttle and enricher (both upper and lower cables). I'll need to order new brake and clutch cables, though.
