I used the wire wheel on my grinder to clean out the inside of each rim (where the spokes are). Then I began the (at least) week long process of soaking the spokes (both the nipples and where they fit through the holes in the hub) with a 50⁄50 mixture of ATF and Acetone. I started disassembling the engine. No surprises yet, but I will need to do some fixing on the threaded holes for the studs that secure the generator bracket.
