If it's not getting a charge I'd suspect 1) aBad connection somewhwere |
That's always a possibility. I checked the resistance in the ground wire on
the regulator. It was high. SO I made a new one using alligator clips to
check it. After establishing that that had nearly 0 resistance, the charge
doesn't work.
2) bad voltage regulator |
Possible. Fortunately I have an aftermarket one courtesy of Jason at Moto
Int'l to try.
3) bad brushes on the generator
Tha's why I am looking for a quick test to run (hopefully with the gen in
place) I may have to pull it out.
or 4) incorrect hookup (hard to do, but can be done)
I re-checked it. I don't see how it could be wrong. It's only a few wires.
But it is a possibility.
That's what I did, and it tested good once I found someone who knew how to test it. Don't bother with PepBoys/Advance/Auto Zone...buncha dumbasses |
No kidding. But I am in the land of hotrods (snohomish, Wa) and have yet to
find a decent auto parts/shop.
