Ian,

This is absolutely normal and has to do with the speed at which the
lines of flux are cut by the windings of the generator. Basically it
boils down to the higher the RPM's, the higher the number of flux lines
that get cut, the higher the voltage output. Alternators do not exhibit
the same problem of low speed lack of charge due to their higher flux
densities.

Sounds like everything is ok with the generator but I was wondering if
