To find somewhere to get it tested, ya gotta find a starter/alternator shop that is preferrably run by an oder gent who knows what a generator is, much less how to hook it up and test it. I went to 3 different such shops (without the older dude) that told me they didn't even look at generators. Finally went to the one with the old dude...(sigh) charged me $1.00 to hook it up and tell me it was putting out 35-40 amps (!!!!) and 14 volts. It seems like I was told one time to truly test a generator, you had to remove it cos the regulator and electrical draw messed with testing. Go ahead..take it out...tisn't all that hard.
