start with higher octane gas and see how it goes. I had the problem on my
T-3 and discovered that it would only run well on midgrade+.

I bought it not running, put it together and have been riding it a lot. I was furtunate to take first place in class with it last weekend @ the AZ. Guzzi rally. I noticed that @ high speed and underload conditions I seem to get excessive pinging. The bike has 1000 cc jugs. I wanted to know if the pinging is caused by to high of compression. Should I use a compression lowering kit (thicker gaskets) or can the problem be handled by retarding the timing?
