Patrick,
Oops, you have revealed another of my mechanical ineptitudes. I'm looking
at a picture of a carb on page 52 of the Primier manual. When I look inside
the carb, when it's on the bike I was looking at the throttle slide with
taper needle. I see now that the choke is actually referred to in the book
as the "air control plug (plunger)". Are you saying there is a rubber disk
at the bottom of that orifice that the plunger goes in? I didn't see one in
there but will look again. Will call dealer to see if I can get new disks
in there. I can also try your experiment of running the bike, if I can get
it running with the choke cables disconnected. Thanks, Bob

Huh? You can't see the place where the choke (enrichening valve) seals.
The
only way to verify is to inspect the rubber disk at the bottom of the
choke
plunger and to insure that the outer cable jacket has at least 1/16" slack
when the choke is off. You could easily have adjusted the choke cables
too
 tight on both carbs.

How about you remove the choke bodies, disconnect the cables, reinsert the
choke bodies and ride it that way for a day to insure that the choke
bodies
 are sealing down?
