Hi John,
I'm not having any problem with anything popping out of gear. It's just
like there is something inside that is binding things up and not
permitting the shift lever to return to a 'static' position (in both up
and down movements). When it happens, I have to use my toe to get the
shifter back into the 'static' position. Then, it may or may not shift
properly from there. I think I have fewer problems when I use a very
light movement on the shift pedal (almost a springing motion). But, then
again, I may just be getting suppositious! Again, this problem is more
pronounced when moving between 2nd and 3rd gears, especially on the
downshift.

The reason I replaced my shift forks, was that it popped out of gear when bench testing after shimming. The faces were wore enough so it did not push'em far enough to "lock" in place. With the drum flopping around forward or aft before shimming, it "moved" where it needed to, to allow engagement. If your's are dropping in place okay....???? Later, JU |
