Check your local bicycle repair shop. Some bikes used bottom
brackets with identical lock nuts, so they may have the perfect tool.
I've used one that was slightly smaller in diameter, but it still spread
the force across the nut. Of course, try it with the heat, etc.

Subject: Exhaust Nut Removal

Hello all!

I need some advise on removing the Exhaust Nuts from my 72' Eldo.
I have
been trying all methods, destructive and non-destructive, to
remove these
nuts. I ordered a 3 peice spanner set from Harbor Freight which
only broke
after about 20lbs of torque on them. I have tried to make my own
wrench,
which also broke. I finally got out the infamous pipe wrench in
frustration. With this method the left side nut broke a chunk
off and only
wanted to bend the nut. I have lubricated it with different
solutions,
lubricants, wax, and even considered pouring beer on it to
satisfy angered
gods.

Anyone have a suggestion short of dropping the thing off at
Detroit
Eurocycles?

Disassembly of the bike took 3 nights of wrenching and
documenting/packaging.
Removal of these nuts has taken almost 2 and a half months. Ugg!

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks!
