Hey Tom,
Actually, ease of removal is the goal. Like Tim I have always used K&N as
the stock config is not reliable (no one is allowed to start the unreliable
thread back up off of this comment!).
By using a short flexible connection at each carb it would be possible to
just slide them back away from the carbs and take the airbox or carb off
without any knuckle bustin' or beer knockin' over or even a grimace!
The tubes would intersect one another as well as the plate as you point out.
I'm gonna try it! I love to fabricate and haven't made anything in quite a
while. I will get something together and see how it works.

Hunter, It certainly could be done that way, if you have the fabrication tools. You could simply use a flat mounting plate and a couple pieces of angle-cut tubing. The only problem would be that the tubes would run into each other at the airbox unless you mitered them where they met. The only other down side that I can think of is that this arrangement might make it more difficult getting things apart, but you can always remove the carbs, manifold-and-all in order to get at things. |
