Dennis,

It's been a while since I did it but I remember it was pretty easy. I removed the engine/tranny together. Leave the cylinders and heads on since they make great hand holds.

After you disconnect everything you will need to support the engine from underneath. Some use a rope and support from overhead too.

Push the two engine support bolts through and move the engine forward to disconnect the tranny from the Ujoint. After that pivot the engine and remove...tranny comes out first.

Yep it's that simple. As Hunter said.....get someone to help with the process. I had my girlfriend help with the job and she aint no weightlifter :-)

You may want to think about protecting the frame too....since it may get scratched in the process.

Good luck...regards...Ian

The ole Eldo is in need of having the motor freshened. I'm accustomed to taking motors out of Tonti frame bikes, but not loopframes. Can someone give me a quick explanation? I don't need the details of detachment of all the usual stuff....drive shaft, swingarm, carbs, wiring harness, etc. What I am interested in knowing is just how you get the motor out of the frame. Do you lay it down with the motor in the frame, then take the engine mounting bolts off and take the frame off of the motor? Should the valve covers or heads or cylinders come off first, or can the motor clear? Any advice would be appreciated.
