I learned the hard way that I have 4 miles on reserve.
I assumed that the way the tank hangs over the frame on both sides, that
there would be some volume in each side after the fuel level gets below the
point where the tank center is cleared out for the frame backbone. I ran
the fuel from the right petcock til dry , then switched on the left figuring
I had maybe a gallon left. I was going to strap a gas can to the seat
until I ran out to get a range reading,, but 4 mi later.....
Anyway, both petcocks look the same. Filter extending into the tank with no
tube covering the filter on either side. Guzzioulogy says run the left
side as primary without an explanation.
Any insight into what is supposed to be normal with petcocks, reserve etc
etc.
I was thinking to attach some kind of tube to one of the valves to make a
level that is maybe 2 inch higher than the other side, but thought I'd ask
you guys first before making an un necessary modification.
Thanks
Pete
