Also, something I learned the hard way...use only one petcock at at time.
The PO of my bike told me "put 'em both down while riding so you get better
gas flow". After I ran out the second time I figured it out. Even with two
reserve filter thingys, you should have some gas in your tank...at least a
gallon or so. Make sure you're not leaking unknowingly or something.
Besides that, I have no idea unless you are very heavy on the throttle and
use up 40 miles worth in 4 miles ;)

Chris,
Yep this helped. I see I have 2 reserve petcocks.
I will have to do some creative modifying to 1 of them.
Tank was bone dry.

Thanks
Pete

One of the tubes should have the bottom half solid and only have screen
material at the top (main). The other should have screening all the way
down. This one is your reserve tube. Sounds like ya have 2 of
them...although 4 miles is an extremely tiny reserve. Check to make
sure
that your filters or petcocks are not clogged in any way. Could you
still

hear gas sloshing in the tank when ya ran out? If so, I'd say a petcock
or
filter is clogged, and at lower levels, gravity is not enough to get the
gas
through.
Hope this helps!

I learned the hard way that I have 4 miles on reserve.
I assumed that the way the tank hangs over the frame on both sides,
that

there would be some volume in each side after the fuel level gets below
the
point where the tank center is cleared out for the frame backbone. I
ran
the fuel from the right petcock til dry , then switched on the left
figuring
I had maybe a gallon left. I was going to strap a gas can to the seat
until I ran out to get a range reading,, but 4 mi later.....

Anyway, both petcocks look the same. Filter extending into the tank
with

 no
tube covering the filter on either side. Guzzioulogy says run the
left

side as primary without an explanation.

Any insight into what is supposed to be normal with petcocks, reserve
etc

 etc.

I was thinking to attach some kind of tube to one of the valves to make
a

level that is maybe 2 inch higher than the other side, but thought I'd
ask
you guys first before making an un necessary modification.

Thanks
Pete
