I will probably have $3000-$3200 total investment into her when I'm finished, well worth it though to bring a 31 year old original back to life!
I am pretty close to that number not including hours. If I did include them then the price to get the bike in top shape would be about $10,000 :-)
Choice is either splurge up front for one that has had all of the refurb work done or get one cheap and spend that money yourself to get it to that point. I wouldn't trade the experience of the refurb process though as it was very educational and provided a real sense of ownership and pride of the accomplishment
Very true. It's all about bonding with the machine....of course you can bond with a machine that you buy all fixed up but not quite the same as spending the hours doing it yourself.
