2013 March 19: Ensure the bottom of the crankcase and sump are flat

Having dealt with leaks from the sump gasket, I now clean up the mating surface between the crankcase and sump. As you can see, someone really damaged the surface on the bottom of the crankcase. I had to do a lot of sanding on my surface plate, but I got it so that I have a good sealing surface all the way around. I did not want to remove the amount of material necessary for 100% perfection. Instead, I wanted to get a good width all the way around.
