Hi Ted,
What sort of "rubber one" did you use - just a normal off-the-shelf
grommet or one specifically made for the distributor? May be allowing
the condenser wire or points to ground a bit. I'll send you an intact
original if you need one.
I agree with the others, try another coil also - perhaps one from NAPA
or the Sorensen (sp?) that Greg and others recommend since they're
inexpensive enough. Cheers,

When I first put the points in I noticed I wasn't getting spark one the #2 cylinder, I thought maybe they were a little oily or something, so I ran an emory board between them. Yeah the insulator is intact, though I replaced the original nylon grommet with a rubber one. ----- Original Message ----- From: "thomas halchuk" <halc-@comcast.net> Why did you file? is the insulator install between the points and the distributor? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ted Ward" <ju-@astrocomma.com> To: <Loopfram-@topica.com> Sent: Monday, April 11, 2005 3:17 PM Subject: Re: help wanted Your free subscription is supported by today's sponsor: ------------------------------------------------------------------- Help us support US Troops - Just Register Here. http://click.topica.com/caadlVxb1dfltb7hDhIa/PermissionData ------------------------------------------------------------------- I forgot to mention new points. Maybe I just need to file the new points a little more?? I just used an emery board to rough them up a little. I might be giving Mark a call before much longer. Ted ----- Original Message ----- From: "Keith Ruff" <klru-@comcast.net> Points? How about the distributor itself? I'm not too knowledgeable in this area, but that's about the only 2 things you have not listed. Unless for some reason your timing marks are not aligned. Why don't you give Mark E a call, 562-986-0070. He can usually solve a problem with a simple phone call.
