I don't know if the plug wires are correct or not, but they worked for a
while and just kind of conked out. I have an extra older set that I've tried
swapping with, don't know if they are correct either. Cap faces backwards
(will it fit the other way?)

Are you using the correct ohm plug wires and caps? 5 ohm is whats
needed. Has to be copper stranded, not carbon fiber or whatever the new
stuff is. What does the contact point of your rotor look like? How does
the cam lobe on the distributor look like? Both your plugs won't fire at
the same time either. You only have one set of points and it will only
fire on the corresponding lobe. Do you have your plug wires on the cap
in the correct sides? #1 is on the left, coil middle and #2 on right.
Which way is the cap facing?

Guys, same old problem, but somebody has to have an idea. I've tried
everything.

prolem:
#2 plug won't fire IF #1 plug is firing. If I unhook #1 plug (at any
point) #2 works fine.
I know this by watching my timing light fire or not fire

What I've tried:
Different plug wires
Different plugs (2 sets)
Different condensors (3)
New distributor cap
Different coils (3)
Disconnecting coil + wires and connecting directly to battery +
Disconnecting coil - wire from tachometer and connecting - directly to
alternator

What I haven't tried:
new rotor
