Hi Greg,
Yep, noticed this a few months back when I was readying the trans. for
my project. Posted a message about it then and Greg Field used it in the
Tips secton of the MGNOC News recently. My V700 parts catalog shows the
hub to be part no. 1208 1800 just as you suspect. Cheers,

Has anyone heard of there being variations in the 4 speed clutch hubs? I'm currently looking at two hubs, one which I know to be part number 1208-1801 and one for which I am uncertain of the part number. They both have 2mm outer splines, but the internal splines have different depths. Specifically, the 1208-1801 splines are deeper than the unknown number's splines. This would seem to indicate that there was a very early V700 transmission input shaft with a different spline depth than the later V700 and Ambassador input shafts. Perhaps there was an earlier 1208-1800 version that was superceded by the later 1208-1801 version? Does anyone have a 1st edition V700 spare parts catalog they can check? From my visual inspection, it appears that the 1208-1801 would work on the earlier versions that called for the 1208-1800...but not the other way around. |
