I'll try my best here Pete,
The throttle grip has a, well see... it's sort of like, um no,not like that
at all....
Well the throttle grip assembly has a...a...a.. SMALL LITTLE CHAIN!
the chain has a cup on the end inwich the throttle cable inserts it's ball.
as you twist the throttle, it pulls the chain, in which the cable sets and
lifts the slides.
Aw!, come on, this is getting more like sex ed than motorcycles. Any one got
a picture??
Sorry Pete.
You got a 71? look to see if theres a cover plate where your cable goes to
the bar. If there is there is probablly a small screw. take that plate off
and Voila! the small chain, usually packed with grease.
See Ya,
Kev

Looks like JB and I are out of the LOOP.(sorry, that's bad)
I also like the looks of the original single cable, the tiny chain is so
cool. To make things worse is that I still have the original cable/lever
choke.
Just relocated it(due to LAPD bars) to the underside of the airbox on the
left side.
Tucks in there nicely.

I put flip chokes on, but don't use them, all it takes to start mine is a
couple throttle twists and push the button.
