My Ambo clutch totally stuck and never released. Turned out the shaft
that connects to the crankshaft (don't kno what this rod/shaft is
called) had fused itself to the back casing of the trans, also destroyed
the throw out bearing. What the shop had found was the bearings in the
trans case rear cover were shot and the case was actually scored. May
be worth checking these bearings if you have the trans apart.

Seems that my clutch is not releasing all the way every once in awhile - mostly after riding for at leash 30 minutes. The brake is enough to hold it in place but sometimes the engine stalls. When I had the engine out for a oil seal work a few years back, I got new clutch discs but didn't upgrade to the deeper hub (stupid me!); the old hub looked good but I guess not good enough. To ask the obvious, isn't it true I have to remove the engine and tranny to do a clutch R&R rather than just the tranny? Bruce '72 Eldo |
