Seems that my clutch is not releasing all the way every once in awhile - mostly after riding for at leash 30 minutes. The brake is enough to hold it in place but sometimes the engine stalls. When I had the engine out for a oil seal work a few years back, I got new clutch discs but didn't upgrade to the deeper hub (stupid me!); the old hub looked good but I guess not good enough. To ask the obvious, isn't it true I have to remove the engine and tranny to do a clutch R&R rather than just the tranny? Bruce '72 Eldo |
No you don't have to remove the engine/trans assemby. The trans will
come out without the engine. Start tearing the bike down at the rear.
I remove the rr wheel/ swingarm together. The rr brake linkage has to
come apart before it can come over the frame. Put that aside, remove
anything eles that will get in your way. I noticed on Eldo's that the
engine may have to be pivoted upward to clear the frame.
Before any teardown I would try the adjuster on the clutch arm at the
back of the trans.
