Absolutely right. Even a worn relatively new tire can trasform a good handliing bike into a death missle. My Norton--a nice an fun bke to ride became the second scariest ride I'd ever been on. I did extensive work to try to restore its good manners, although the thing that made it fun again was a new tire, even tho the old one looked great.
