I havfe the K&N filters mounted to the carb directly on the small lip around
the end. I don't think they will fit together with the venturi screwed in.

Ian,

When I got my 71, I noticed the boot connecting the airbox to carbs was
torn.
MG Cycle suggested the K&Ns.

I mounted them on the carbs directly. I vaguely remembered the threaded
inserts. After reading the recent exchanges, I checked the box where I
stored all the related bits, I saw the velocity stacks mentioned.

For what its worth, the K&N mounted to the carb seems to work OK. Its a
close fit and I need a hoseclamp to keep them attached because the
mounting surface is maybe 3/4 inch long.
Performance wise, I dont have anything else to compare to at this time,
but
 I'll keep this in mind to try an experiment in the future.

How much do a set of the venturis go for? Can you still get them? Anyone
have a set to sell? If I could get a set I might convert my Ambo1 to the
Unis as I did with my #2 bike.

I just looked at my bike and I can't see how the venturis make a big
difference. Without going into the details too much what is the advatage
of
using the venturis? As I said in an earlier post....I don't notice a
difference on my bike but that doesn't mean there wouldn't be one. I
have
 
 nothing to compare too.

with
 the orig venturies .call the shop and I will be happy to give you the
part
