Ian,
When I got my 71, I noticed the boot connecting the airbox to carbs was
torn.
MG Cycle suggested the K&Ns.
I mounted them on the carbs directly. I vaguely remembered the threaded
inserts. After reading the recent exchanges, I checked the box where I
stored all the related bits, I saw the velocity stacks mentioned.
For what its worth, the K&N mounted to the carb seems to work OK. Its a
close fit and I need a hoseclamp to keep them attached because the
mounting surface is maybe 3/4 inch long.
Performance wise, I dont have anything else to compare to at this time, but
I'll keep this in mind to try an experiment in the future.
keep us all posted on your experience.
Pete

Can you still get them? Anyone have a set to sell? If I could get a set I might convert my Ambo1 to the Unis as I did with my #2 bike. I just looked at my bike and I can't see how the venturis make a big difference. Without going into the details too much what is the advatage of using the venturis? As I said in an earlier post....I don't notice a difference on my bike but that doesn't mean there wouldn't be one. I have nothing to compare too. Regards....Ian
