Tom,

When the plug threads on my head decided after 30+ years to give it up, I
tried the cheap fix and got the inserts myself but eventually took it to a
shop and had them weld it back up and re-drill and tap for me. Much easier
and yes if it fails I have someone else to blame other than myself. And this
happened right before last years VA rally!! I was not amused about missing
the rally! :(

Tom,
But if you were thinking of pouring it into the holes, I assume the
bike
is
still apart so that you could pour down the hole ?

Yes.

If so maybe you want to
consider having a weld shop weld it up and then a machine shop
re-drill
and
tap it. A competent weld shop should be able to weld the aluminum up no
problem. There's an expense there but the end result would be like new.

Oooh, that's a good idea! Then, if the holes are misaligned, I have
someone else to blame, too!!
