This may not be the best advice....:-) but ya know...Look at the
cylinders closely if the is no peeling, score marks, ect., look at the
pistons next. Good shape? If so, I would just re-ring the pistons.
What's the ring end gap like? Guzzi's are pretty tolerant, forgiving is
maybe the word. I know of a Guzzi running with a huge score down the
right barrel, runs great, wouldn't even know. Your call really, I don't
have the cylinders to look at and photos won't do it justice if things
are on the fence. I know everyone wants to give you "the best" advice
with hearts in the right places but it's not always the best on the
wallet. I know how tight money can be. What's the worst that can happen?
Do I remember right that a light hone can be put on the barrels? Might
want to look into that.
Maybe try to justify it in a way of maybe the money could be spent
elsewhere, to make sure the bike safe, tires? ect.

You are probably right... But what if I cant afford it?? Parts are
adding up fast! I thought i would save some money and buy a basket case
but now it is adding up... ;-O
