I had an Ambo eng with a stuck cyl, took a lot of pounding to break it
loose, even put a dimple in the crown doing this. After carefully cleaning the
grooves for the rings and checking the overall specs found it to be
usable.Had the cyls sleeved and old pistons fitted and new rings
installed.the only downside they took a long time to break in.I have about
38,000 on it with no problems. This was done before the Nikasil kits were
available. Can't say on the condition of the chrome in your cyl.....maybe a
used cyl if the price is right? Dave

All the specs are in the manual, downloadable at Greg Bender's site. Measure piston to cylinder clearance. Measure the ring groove & clearance between the ring & groove with ring installed on the piston. Measure the valve to guide clearance (most probably the source of the carbon). I don't think you want to hone hard chrome. You might be able to source a ring set from Hastings. Use cast iron rings - don't put chrome on chrome.
