38k sounds good to me give i ride about 2k miles on a good year. I think
i will save the money and go with the cylinders for now and use that
money to get the valves cleaned up. I am having a hard time getting all
the carbon off the head and now that i look closer at the valves they
could use a little grinding on the edges.

I had an Ambo eng with a stuck cyl, took a lot of pounding to break it loose, even put a dimple in the crown doing this. After carefully cleaning the grooves for the rings and checking the overall specs found it to be usable.Had the cyls sleeved and old pistons fitted and new rings installed.the only downside they took a long time to break in.I have about 38,000 on it with no problems. This was done before the Nikasil kits were available. Can't say on the condition of the chrome in your cyl.....maybe a used cyl if the price is right?
