I agree whole-heartedly with the "RIDE IT!" philosophy. I have a slight advantage over Rob and Sam, since they are by all appearances wiry and slender, while I operate on the same principle that allows a walrus or an orca to dive under the Arctic ice pack and stay perfectly warm and comfy. |
We missed you at Hales, those that travelled any distance got wet on the
way in but (I think) had a nice ride home.
I did a SaddleSore the other week on the Ambo, left in the dark in the
mid 40s, arrived home in the dark 21 hours later in the mid 40s (it was
warmer during the day). So I realize it can be done, but I can't say I
look forward to cold weather riding the way I look forward to warm
weather riding. Putting the bike up for the winter allows me to do some
maintenance also.
I guess a News Years Day ride appeals to me in the same way that a
"polar bear swim" does... not necessarily something you look forward to,
but cool to have done.
