I hesitate to be the voice of dissention but you guys are being a little
naive here. A modern business is faced with an overwhelming battle against huge
overhead. Advertising, utilities, facilities, payroll, computers not to mention
the crushung tax state. Then the smart ones know that they can't compete with
the fond memories and the charm and affordibility of the older machines as well
as many of the new machines. Couple this with the current economy and I can
understand why a rep or saleperson's eyes glaze over like the eyes of a gecko
lizard when you mention your loop. He feels like a kid who has just been shot
down by the girl of his dreams at prom time. Salespeople are not historians,
they are trying to feed themselves. I don't defend rudeness under these
circumstances but don't expect a showroom to have the atmosphere of old home week.
Please forgive me if I come off as a bit too critical but the business world of
today is merciless. Heck , most Harley "boutiques" won't even wrench on a
shovelhead! Besides I would much rather talk Guzzis at a campground with a bunch
of guys "who know" what I am talking about. Guzzi needs to take a lesson from
the auto industry. "RETRO" is the future in my opinion. I would buy a new
bike if it had the allure and sensibility of a loop, you guys might consider
it too. But untill that time comes a Guzzi showroom might as well be selling
Yamaha's if you ask me.
