It was late summer 1970 and I was a freshman at Wisconsin. My parents had just booted me out of the house for buying a used Norton Commando from a buddy. The parents hated motorcycles....dad said only "hoods" (read: punks and thugs) rode them and my mother was a nurse in an ER and had seen too much. While parking the Norton in a ramp, I heard an unusual bark of a motorcycle on an upper level. As it got louder I was intrigued as to what kind of machine it was. A black Ambo appeared and I thought that it was one of the coolest looking bikes I had ever seen. I rode sporadically for the next 25 years, mostly on BMW R bikes and a couple Gold Wings, but I never forgot about that Moto Guzzi. Four years ago I started surfing the web and looking at Loopframes and found an old Eldorado nearby. It was ratty, but salvagable. I bought it, and plan on doing a total restoration when I retire. But until then, I putt around town and keep it running as best I can.......
