I had just completed putting back together the 75 Norton Commando that I took apart 14 years earlier, and discovered there was a group of bike guys in the area that all had old bikes. I started to meet with them on a regular basis at their Wed night Ryans dinner. One guy, Marty, had a nice set up at his home, garage up front, workshop in back. We used to go over there to tell lies and drink a few Ol' Milwaukees. He had a Guzzi engine sitting on the floor and the more I looked at it the more sense it made. Every time I looked at it Marty would tell me something else about it that made me appreciate it more. Eventually I bought the 72 Eldo basket case he had. Marty had owned it for about 10 years, it was a basket case when he bought it. Old George had taken it apart about 10 years before that. Marty's standard answer for "when are you going to have that finished?" was "any minute". Marty passed away last year on Thanksgiving Day after a long struggle with cancer.
