Hey Paul,

I think we would have to agree that this is always a matter of experience=
and opinion. I feel exactly as you do, only in reverse. I grew up with a=
n Ambo and an Eldo, and found them to be the pinnacle of reliability. My =
friends marveled at the fact that I never had to mess with the ignition, =
since the points system on the Guzzis so reliable. But then they rode mos=
tly Nortons and Triumphs.

Some years ago, I picked up an R50/5, and then an R90/6, both becasue the=
y were cheap. I hated them both, the R90 most of all. The "technology" of=
the R90 - CV carbs, "improved" ignition, etc., made it a pain in the ass=
, and the seat put the pain in my ass. It was the most uncomfortable bike=
I ever owned. They both leaked constantly, and both the needles fell off=
of the instruments on the R90. Every maintenance procedure is difficult,=
and every procedure needs special tools.

In my limited experience, anyone who can't keep a Loopframe running doesn=
't know what they are doing, and has only made things worse. I was pretty=
young when I had the =20
Ambo and the Eldo, and they were the easiest bikes I've ever owned to kee=
p in shape. I know most of us can handle basic stuff, some can do more ad=
vanced. The Loopframes are so simple in every way that there are no probl=
ems that can't be fixed. It is unfair to blame the bikes when it is usual=
ly the misguided efforts of the mechanic.
