Hey All,
While we are on the subject of plating I just read an interesting article on
a new type of plating that is available here in Canada.
The new material is called Cermakrome and I believe it is a ceramic based
coating that resembles chrome. They say that it "resembles chrome and the
more you polish it the more it brightens". Works on any metal except
magnesium.
Also says that it can withstand continuous temps of (1300F) and will not
discolour.
Cost? They say that a single header exhaust header for a 4 cylinder car runs
about $125 Cdn. Seems that it is pretty close to regular plating.
I am going to call them to see if they can do my old headers from my Ambo.
I'm not sure if the process can work on old metal or not.
Anyone heard of this process? I'll let you all know what I learn.
Regards...Ian
p.s. by the way...I have no connection to these people....just sounds like
an alternative to regualr plating.

Hello to all. Thanks to everyone for the great info on plating shops. It amazes me how wide a price range there is. I'll just have to work on which one to try after contacting a few. Thanks again for taking the time to respond! Hunter 71 Ambassador 72 Eldorado |
