Hi AJ,
I found my dual seat very uncomfortable. It had been recovered ??? years
ago by a previous owner. I think the foam may be original - but after
thirty years, that doesn't matter much. The foam would simply collapse
after a while and I would end up with essentially no padding.
I ordered a solo police seat from Mark and have it installed now. On the
few short rides that I've taken (less than 50 miles each time) it has
felt MUCH better. The true test will be the trip up to the National
rally (1,050 miles one-way from Tampa; not including my straying habbits
:>). If I don't post my thoughts after I get back, be sure to remind me.
I've heard the seat pan on the Harper solo seat cracks easily - even
when tightening the nuts to the frame. I don't have first hand
experience here, but this info comes from a reliable source.
I'm sure someone on the list has tried the MG Cycle seats and can
comment about them.
What I really want to do sometime is get an old steel farm implement
seat. The kind with the giant seat pan. I think it would look cool and
be very comfortable (WIDE - COMFORT)! :>

Hi all, Sorry if this has been hashed to death before, I wasn't paying any attention when I didn't need a seat and now I can't seam to dig up any good info. I have a two up seat that so far I like and has been comfortable, though I have not been on any long trips as of yet. Unfortunately it has a tear on the side and is quickly coming apart. The foam is quickly shredding and falling out also. I guess I will just take it to a local upholstery place and have it recovered. Does anyone have any other ideas? I'm willing to send it to a specialist or to send it to a Guzzi friend. I believe in supporting business that way, not just lowest bidder. Also, if I am sans seat for a little while, I wouldn't mind picking up a solo seat. Any recommendations or ones to avoid? After market is fine for me, I'm sure my current one isn't stock. My butt is not that picky, but it likes to be comfy. BTW, I hope to make this rally next week. I'll only be there on Thursday, having to head back on Friday. Hopefully I can meet some of you. Since I have only been riding for less than a month, I will be driving. I am tempted to trailer the bike though. Thanks, -AJ AJ Huff '71 Ambassador Three Rivers, MI MGNOC# 19917 |
