I guess if one thinks back to the simpler times, no one though marking
individual components was needed. The I.D. Plate was on the stem and
what more would you need! Larger boats had no serial numbers stamped
into the hulls until the mid seventies....bill of sale is all you
needed....and row boats, who would want to steal one of those?
