OK, the plate says January 1972, the registration says 1972 and the
number doesn't match anything. Here in Canada, we don't use titles, but
the official registration of proof of ownership. On the back of the form
is a place where the current owner can sign the certificate, enter the
name of the buyer, the mileage and date of sale. Sometimes, depending o
th eprovince, there is room for the sale amount as well. I noticed the
discrepancy, when I had the bike evaluated as a precursor for
registering in my name. I bought the bike in February from another
province. Intertestingly enough, on antiques, my province, Quebec,
relies on independant evaluations for taxing a vehicle. In my case, the
guy had no clue of the value of the bike, but used the bill of sale to
establish a value. $125 later....
So, the plate is riveted on the steering head and looks as if it has
been there from day 1. Strange that the serial number would not be
stamped into the frame. Plates can be changed easily enough. At any
rate, I have emailed the seller, a lawyer, for clarification. I just
thought, being new to Guzzis, that I was missing something here. If
anyone on the list wants to know about 55-69 BMWs, just ask. If I don't
have the info, I know where to find it.
