Hi Bill,

Thanks for the comparitive figures. There is comfort in concensus - even
if we both turn out to be wrong :> (I do think our engines are fine,
though). I doubt that my gauge is accurate to the nth degree, either (it
is an inexpensive SunPro/Actron gauge). But it's probably pretty close
and certainly close enough for these old pumps.

Greg... that's pretty much the same readings I get on my gauge. I was a
little surprised when I first did it that the numbers were that high,
though my high number is maybe 60 versus your 67. Anyway, the gauge I'm
using doesn't appear to be a precise instrument, so I pay less attention

to that actual numbers.. and mainly look for any changes from the
'norm', if that make sense.. to indicate trouble.

I successfully installed the oil pressure gauge this evening and went
for a 25 minute ride to see what would happen when the oil warmed up
fully. Here is what I found:

When just started, the pressure was easily between 55 and 60 PSI.
As I left the house and started riding, I reved it a bit in 2nd and 3rd
and the pressure went up to as high as 67 - but only briefly.
When fully warmed, I had three observations:
1. At idle the pressure would read 17 PSI.
2. Taking it very easy and just looping along resulted in 50 PSI.
3. Reving it fairly high (but not super tight) in 2nd or 3rd resulted in

60 PSI.

The book states that the pressure should be between 54 - 60 PSI. My
engine has around 90-95 thousand miles on it and I do not know the
complete history. Do I need to worry about these numbers or am I fine
right now? FYI, this was with 20W-50 weight motor oil.
