Chances are good it's the o ring on the clutch plunger, not a gasket. My
Ambo leaked like crazy there because the plunger just runs in the alloy and
wore it to the point that the o ring wouldn't hold back the oil.
Also check the plug on the trany by the neutral switch to make sure the vent
is open.

to replace the gasket without disturbing the shift mechanism? I'd really rather not have the springs, pawls, & plungers take off for the darkest corners of the garage-PING!! surprise surprise. How about the transmission rear cover? Can it be removed & replaced w/out having to take the mechanism under the small cover apart? The disassembly description in the old 700-750 Guzzi shop manual makes it appear that the shift mechanism comes out w/the small cover, then the main cover can be removed, but I've been bitten by that book before!
