Loopers,
The V700 I'm working on had the entire rear of the transmission caked in
decades old grease. She's a-leakin' somewhere! Can I remove the small cover
to replace the gasket without disturbing the shift mechanism? I'd really
rather not have the springs, pawls, & plungers take off for the darkest
corners of the garage-PING!! surprise surprise.
How about the transmission rear cover? Can it be removed & replaced w/out
having to take the mechanism under the small cover apart? The disassembly
description in the old 700-750 Guzzi shop manual makes it appear that the
shift mechanism comes out w/the small cover, then the main cover can be
removed, but I've been bitten by that book before! What's the experience of
the list 4-speed experts?
