I've been known to be a really lazy bastard...

If I don't feel like pulling a perfectly good albeit leaking aseembly
apart, I'll run some seal softener thru the system. About half the time
- it works great! stops the leak colsd simply by softening the seal
and/or o-ring.

The other half - well, either the assembly was put together improperly,
or the seal had either torn or cracked.

in any case, the seal softener can be a pretty simple solution -
sometimes. Remember, we're working with 30+ year old elastomers, and
they get hard; sometimes softeners are all you need.

This one thanks to the guys at MG Cycle: you can
remove the shift plunger by gently and carefully
pressurizing the tranny with compressed air. Have a
rag ready to cushion the plunger as it shoots out the
back of the tranny!
