The guys are right, but if you really want to get into it, the shift return
spring cover(small one) can be removed without disturbing anything, altough
it's straightforward in there if you do distrub something.
Not sure if you can remove the whole kit& kaboodle without removing the
small cover first, I would have to say no because it all ties into the the
shift pawl, drum ect. Might have an alighnment problem if you do.

I found the same thing. The O-ring itself will start to weep. Buy a good
magnet to draw the body out and examine then replace the o-ring. The
vent is the other likely source/cause. Otherwise, the 4-speeds tend to
be leak and trouble free.

Chances are good it's the o ring on the clutch plunger, not a gasket.
My
Ambo leaked like crazy there because the plunger just runs in the alloy
and
wore it to the point that the o ring wouldn't hold back the oil.
Also check the plug on the trany by the neutral switch to make sure the
vent
is open.
