Good point. You can increase the compression ratio by using longer
rods, but you can't change the displacement. Displacement is a
volumetric computation of bore and stroke. Wouldn't matter if you used
cylinders and rods that were three feet long. The only way to increase
stroke is to move the crankshaft pin. If that puts the piston into the
head, then you need to use a shorter rod or relocate the wristpin
relative to the piston crown.
