Paul,
Synthetic electric motor grease would be my first choice, but it is
unlikely that you have that laying around your shop. Nearly any ol'
grease will do, so long as its not that old stringy wheel bearing
grease. If you can, go with a grease that is a little on the "thin" side
so that the return spring is not trying to drag its way through some
thick goop. Also, go sparingly. Too much of it will cause it to be flung
around in places where you would rather not have it go, such as the
commutator.

Tom, OK. I got mine with the later side covers and 2 single instrument housings. I have updated my throw out bearing to the 22mm with the new rear cover from Moto International. I got the last 2 originals they had. My wheels already had the stainless spokes, but the spare rear I had, had the old steel type. Sold it on Ebay and now I will be needing the hub part for my Eldo project. I guess I wasn't thinking too far ahead on that one. Hopefully another one will show up when I'm ready for it. I will check my starter tomorrow and give it a good clean and lube. What do you recommend for lube? Paul 69 Ambo .5 74 Eldo |
