is the bike on the centerstand when this happens??
sounds like it isn't.
If you have the rear wheel off the ground and squeeze the clutch while in
idle, The rear wheel should turn if your clutch is somehow allowing
transfer of motion to the drive train.
sorry I don't know enough about the trans and clutch mechanics to offer any
more than this idea

The idling down and quitting is strange. Do you mean when you switch into
gear with the clutch pulled?
It will idle in neutral, but if I pull the clutch in and leave it in |
put it in gear, without letting out the clutch.
Sorry I wasn't more clear on that. Bottom line is it won't idle
with clutch pulled in....whether the transmission is in neutral
or not.
Do you think that the clutch plates might be
grabbing?
