HI Keith
Yes I know the hole.
Heres my story. Got mine a year ago and noticed a few drops coming out of
the shift linkage area, way back on the trans. Nothing near the drain
plug. The few very short test rides I took all resulted in a few drops
coming out of there.
Back in March, I changed all the fluids again and began riding. I used the
exact measurement method and not the level plug to fill as recommended in
Guzziology.
For the first 3-400 miles I still had the drip from the trans linkage. I
went for the first longer ride and decided to top off the trans fluid and
gave it a squirt more, maybe 1 oz max.
After 50 mi I stopped for gas and saw a real puddle of oil under the bike
all coming fromthe little drain hole .
Went to the bike meet and met Jim Whitehead ( either he or his brother is
the local MGNOC reps) anyway he told me that it was a drain hole in the
clutch housing and some of the oil from the trans must have spilled over in
the clutch area and is draining out.
Now after 2-300 miles later, there is just a very small amount of weeping
from the hole.
Seems like I squirted oil in when it wasn't needed. Is it possible you
overfilled ?
I understand way too much overfilling will slick up your clutch plates, and
you dont want that to happen.

My Ambo has been sitting in the garage on it's center stand for a few weeks now as I have been doing some home improvement stuff and working on her in my spare time. I don't want to take her out for a cruise until I figure out this Gen Warning Light/charging system dilemma. I noticed some oil under the engine, laughed when I saw it as I hear they all leak a few drops when sitting. Even my neighbor and my mechanic have oil spots under their Guzzi's. I took a look underneath to see where it is coming from, and initially I thought it was the oil drain plug, but upon further investigation, it appears the oil is weeping out of a small hole that is on the engine casing, then runs down around the oil drain plug, then onto the floor. Looks like some sort of vent hole or something. Can anyone tell me what this hole is and if there is anyway to prevent the oil from weeping out? The hole is not on the oil pan, it's on the bottom of the engine case just in front of the oil pan/drain plug towards the front of the bike.
