I finished and put the tank on the Ambo last night. Due to some bad sanding
by a PO the area of chrome had to be reduced by about 1/2" all the way
around. SO I have smaller chrome areas. This will reduce a wee bit further
whan I add the black pinstripe. Still I like the chromed area. Just another
rectum opinion.

I would also say that unless you want to pay a real professional to restore it to its original glory I say leave it with the well worn patina. That said, there is nothing wrong with a little custom (right Dave?). I always thought that red with silver panels (instead of chrome), pinstripes and emblems would look great. Or Italian green with cream panels and pinstripes. I have seen yellow with black panels and pinstripes that looked kind of tasty. But opinions are just like assholes they say, Everyone has one. Go for what you like, Rich '71 Ambo with well worn character (someday in the next decade to be restored to former glory) In a message dated 5/15/01 4:57:16 PM Pacific Daylight Time, guzzi-@hotmail.com writes: My questions are, what are the purposes, other than looks, for the chromed tank panels? And, should one paint the tank a solid color or not, and if not, then why? The last option is, should I leave it be and allow it's weathered look considered character? Just curious of everyone's opinion. John S. Hickory, NC ============================================================ Feeling blue about the state of your email inbox?
