I know the best way to synch the carb is with a venturi to balance the flow, but I used a mechanical method that worked well. It seems to run much more evenly now. The right plug still burns cleaner than the left but the exhaust heat and pressure coming out of the tailpipe are fairly close now. I have no crossover pipe between the mufflers. I don't think you can synch the carbs by ear. I can describe the mechanical synch method for you if you want. Pete
