Hi,
I just put one of the ever start batteries in my Bike 420 cranking amps
works great, I didn't worry about the part number as much as cranking amps
and terminal position. Works great thus far, and only cost 30 bucks at

Robert-
Exactly, as Ian pointed out, you can't mix the Bosch and Marelli parts.
Don't know the # for the battery. It's an EverStart Lawn and GardenBattery (that's all I can see without removing it). Just make sure the
terminals are on the correct sides so the cables reach.

Chris,
What is the part number of that battery that you got at WalMart for
onGuzzi?? Also, it is my understanding that when replacing a generator
a2MarelliGuzzi one has to be sure that one does not mix Bosch electrics withPalselectrics. It is my understanding that if you have Marelli electrics
everything must remain Marelli and same for Bosch. (If any Guzzi Pentheknow differently.......) Thanks, Bob Hawkes

Check the voltage regulator...I had an always dead battery until Ithe regulator. Generator checked fine, starter was new. Replacingvoltage regulator should solve your problem.
As for batteries, I have used a wal-Mart Garden tractor battery for
dustyearsnow with absolutely no problem. My battery charger has a lot of
on$19.95itnow. Why pay $50-100 for a special motorcycle battery, when a
one)battery (that is suspiciously the exact same size as the original

Another tip...Bosch generator on a Guzzi puts out 20-25 amps I
AnotchbackBosch generator for a VW Type III (squareback, fastback, or

aboltyouhave a lot of energy consuming devices on your loop, I'd recommendfindingone of these jewels...they have the same case (looks original) andright on!

Hello,
I'm new to this site and already I have found it useful. I have
alwaysbike70Ambassador that I rebuilt last year. I had a popping in the right
cylinder at idle all last summer. I have had that carb out of thea half dozen times. I'll try the timing.
The other problem I have is low starter rpms. It's like I
anyoneputtinghavea dead battery. I had the starter rebuilt and the generator isit'sout the proper voltage. My battery was new last year (the guy saidthe one they use in the Harleys) but maybe it's to small. Can
recommend a good one? Or did I get a bad starter rebuild?
